Paint your pride with light.

Your motorcycle or classic car is your pride and joy, I know this because I too am an owner of an Aussie muscle car, so I will treat the photograph with as much care and enthusiasm as you show to your vehicle.
You’ll be the envy of your mates all over again with a shot like this because you already bought a better car than them, so why not step it up with a magical portrait too?

Automotive photography mixed with light painting produces some absolute magic - the richness of the paint, the shine of the chrome, the blue of the night sky - you can’t really go wrong. If you have never looked into automotive photography before, and you have found yourself on my website, I am so glad! In the gallery below are just some of the examples I have produced over the many years I have worked as an automotive photographer. I get so excited for every single shoot like its my first, the night sky is never the same, you get to tell me all about your ride and you get to watch the magic unfold right in front of you.

How does this service work?

  • Step 1: You Have the Vehicle

You have vehicle, check! And now you need a photo (that isn’t from a car show) to hang on the wall/post to social media) to make all of your mates jealous, again. You find yourself on my website, hoorah! You’ve come to the right place 😁

  • Step 2: Booking and Timing

This shoot will take place on location and will last around 60mins. We will set up the shot just prior to sun down, this is where the magic happens!

Please note: the shoot can start as early as 5:15pm in the winter or as late as 8:45pm in the summer, if a winter shoot, please rug up!

  • Step 3: On Location

Safety is my number one priority!
The shoot must take place away from any busy roads (paddocks are ideal). I will not suggest any locations that you are not comfortable with. And I will ask that you stand away from any roads while the shoot takes place.

  • Step 4: Finalising the Image

This is where you get to see how that magic turned out! For ‘Package 1’, you will receive the digital file within 1 week of the shoot, for ‘Package 2’ allow 2-3 weeks for the print, for ‘Package 3’ allow 3-5 weeks for print & frame.
Please refer to the FAQs below for more, or drop me a line.

AUTOMOTIVE FAQs

General

  • This type of photography uses lighting, location and technical expertise to showcase your vehicle to make it look even more desirable, and to make your mates jealous!

  • Light painting is technique that uses movement of light on a subject during a long exposure. In the instance of automotive photography, I will walk around your vehicle with a lightbox while my camera is taking the photo, and every part of your vehicle that is touched with the light while the cameras shutter is open will appear in the photograph.

  • After you have booked your session and a location has been chosen, we will meet on location and set your vehicle up in the best position for the photo just prior to the sun setting (there will still be enough light to see what we’re doing), once it is dark enough, I will use a light painting technique to light your vehicle to make it pop from the dark sky and background. Towards the end of the session as it gets even darker, I will take a separate photograph of the sky and will merge the two images.

  • The shoot will last approximately an hour.

  • Sundown/after dark is the best time for the shoot. Keeping in mind that sundown is later in summer (8:45-9:15pm) and much earlier in winter (5:15-5:45pm), but then winter can be very cold, so dress appropriately!

  • It is not necessary to do a full detail, but a quick wash and chamois will do the trick to get rid of that surface dust from the shed.

  • If you’d prefer not to get your vehicle out in the rain, that is more than okay, we can reschedule to the next available dry day.

  • Absolutely! If you have any ideas for locations, we can discuss. If you have access to paddocks out of town, even better, then there is no light pollution from the street lights in town.

  • Not often, but I occasionally travel for car shows (as I have a classic car myself), so stay tuned to my socials for where I’ll be when.

I am also open to travelling outside of Bendigo to photograph your vehicle, drop me a line to discuss.

  • Well, if you’re able to somehow borrow their vehicle (with their permission) we don’t have to tell them it’s for a photoshoot.

  • Yes. Each of my vehicle packages can be purchased as a voucher.

Post shoot

  • Allow up to a week to receive the edited digital image.

For a print, allow 2-3 weeks.

For a framed piece, allow 4-5 weeks.

  • As it is only one image, I will email the final image to you in high resolution file (optimised for printing) and as a low resolution file (optimised for online).

  • Yes, you absolutely can.

  • Yes, I will always keep a backup of your image. If you misplace it, accidentally delete it, I will provide a copy free of charge.

  • Yes*. Sharing my work is how I grow my small business and attract new clients. If the piece is intended as a gift, I will wait until the gift is received to keep that ‘element of surprise’, if there is a reason you would rather not disclose, just let me know that you don’t want the image shared online.

*I will blur your number plate when posting online.
